Here's what we are looking for:

 

H&S has an immediate opportunity to join our fashion team in the New York office, a group working across several different accessory and retail brands. This is an exciting growth opportunity for a driven, self-starter with strong media relations skills, a fluency in the social and digital landscape, a passion for inspiring culture, and excellent communication and organization skills.

 

Responsibilities

  • Draft media alerts, press releases, pitches and social media posts
  • Work with team members to respond to client and editor requests and ensure requests are taken care of in an efficient manner 
  • Cultivate relationships with media, including print and online, and pro-actively pursue coverage and awareness for brands/products, events, brand executives, etc.
  • Build relationships with digital influencers and bloggers and assist in creating and implementing paid and earned programs - create and edit/maintain influencer roster
  • Help to create and generate news with existing client program and product for seasonal pitches; identify opportunistic media angles as they come up in current events, etc.
  • Track clients’ coverage in the press; secure clips and create press reports in timely manner to share with clients
  • Ensure all projects are completed thoroughly and presented to the team in a “client-ready” manner
  • Monitor, read and keep up to date with magazines, newspapers, trade journals and other publications relevant to clients - create and edit/maintain media lists
  • Stay informed and help keep team members and the overall agency aware about relevant industry news and on clients’ competitors
  • Create and update agendas for weekly team/client status meetings
  • Assist with building and designing PowerPoint presentations for client proposals, event recaps, etc.
  • Vet media and event opportunities for clients
  • Use social media and digital platforms to drive brand awareness

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, public relations, English, marketing or a related field
  • Two to four years of experience in public relations agency or similar position in a non-agency setting
  • Comfort and familiarity in social and online media a must
  • Vested interest in the cultural conversation, including trends, influencers and the media landscape
  • Strong media pitching and writing skills a must
  • Strong organizational skills and detail oriented with proven ability to multitask to manage priorities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically PowerPoint and Excel
  • Results driven with a focus on delivering excellent client service
  • Takes initiative and demonstrates flexibility when priorities shift
